well the stories are important because they are kinda spiritual and this is a spiritual movie and without the storys we wouldnt have all the flash backs in the movie. Also with the stories, it showed how intense the past was when Victors father used to live with them, and how bad his child hood was.

The stories fit the movie great, along with the songs that go along with the film. If they made some scenes where victor told stories, i think the movie would have been more understandable because it would have been like the movie was more about thomas if the stories kept the way they were.
